Re-accreditation is the re-establishment or renewal of Mental Health First Aider® (MHFAider®) status after completing the initial 12 or 14-hour Mental Health First Aid® course. After three years, MHFAiders® are required to complete a Refresher course to update their skills. This ensures MHFAiders® maintain currency with changes to research and evidence over time. These changes can result in amendments to our curriculum and materials. It is important that MHFAiders® remain abreast of the latest developments to ensure best practice knowledge and application of Mental Health First Aid®. After six years, due to the amount of change in research, statistics, version updates to our manuals, lived experiences and technological developments, MHFAiders® will need to attend a full 2 or 14-hour MHFA® course to re-accredit.
